There are many things in life that we do not understand. Why do people act the way they do? Why do they make the choices they make? 

We often try to put ourselves in other people’s shoes, but we can never know what it is like to be them. This is because we view the world through our inherently flawed lens. Others see the world through their lens also.

But, this does not mean we should not try to understand others. We must do so if we want to have any meaningful relationships. What we should not do, is expect others to be able to understand us. We are the only ones who can know what it is like to be us.

Other people will always have their own opinions and perspectives, judging us based on those. That’s OK. We should not take it personally when others don’t seem to “get” us.
